Christian Online Dating

Is Christian Online Dating A Lack Of Faith?

Ok, be honest, when you think of Christian online dating what do you think of?  Sad, desperate individuals, who somehow never really have their act together enough to meet someone the ‘normal' way

Is it those people who secretly have some sort of strange characteristic that undoubtedly they don’t want to disclose so go online instead and hide behind the security of a computer screen?

Is it really for people who are truly trusting God to deliver that special someone they have been waiting for, for years?

Well firstly let’s take a look at what you might think is the 'normal' way.

Church, bible study groups, visits to other churches to get a glimpse of ‘new blood’ or even the train ride home from work where God will draw you to that spiritually mature Christian group leader He’s been preparing for you all these years?  The perfect Christian stranger, whom you exchange numbers with and well... begin a life of a truly wonderful marriage growing and serving together.  Possible I’m sure because you never know what God will do, right?

Waiting on God or Actively Seeking

Do we wait on God to find us a job or do we actively seek one and God will work in that?  Is finding a spouse as spiritual as we think it is or is it ok to actively seek someone?

Online dating was not yet available to the characters of biblical times, so Abraham sent his servant on a journey to find a wife for his son Isaac.  He was specific in that he sent him to his wife’s brother who would be from the same spiritual background.  Along with prayer God showed him Rebekah who become Isaacs wife. Abraham was active in seeking Isaac a wife.

Choosing Wisely

Now let’s look at an organized forum of paying Christian members, who are from simular spiritual backgrounds and whose profile and identity is openly displayed for you to pray over.

For the most part many of the people that use these services are much the same as you and I.  Praying and even fasting for many years, wanting to wait on God to bring them a husband or wife.

But for some of us that just did not happened, do we decided to give Christian online dating a try.   Is online dating a viable option for us as Christians?

A professional Christian dating site affords you the security and scope to choose wisely, prayerfully take your time to become acquainted with an individual and move on far more easily if needs be.

There are words of caution and advice along with prayer and common sense which go alone with meeting someone online which many of the good dating sites will have.

Heartache

How many of us have entered into a whirl wind romance, only for it to end in tears and heartache. Whilst, this of course is still a possibility with Christian online dating, it can be argued that one can exercise a little more discretion when taking things more slowly online.

Actually a Christian dating site is perhaps suitable for the more discerning Christian single, the thinking single man or woman's way to meet the love of your life.

Now I’m not saying Christian online dating is for everyone, but if you were considering giving it a try do so with an open heart and mind.

Follow Me

Still not convinced? Well I would like to assert that many of you have already indulged. Heard of Facebook anyone? Twitter ring a bell? With a billion members on Facebook surely somebody's been connecting with people they've never met in their life - all online.

How many of your 'friends' on Facebook do you actually know? How about your followers on Twitter.

Social networking is just another form of online dating, whether you're becoming acquainted with a potential business partner or your future wife or husband.

Online dating a lack of faith? I don't think so.
